Auditions are held at the Players' Back Door Theater and will consist of cold readings from the script. You will be asked to sing a few bars from a recognizable song. It is not necessary to bring sheet music or prepare an audition song.
"Crimson Sails" is an original play with music written by Dick Budin.
Taking place in an unnamed country in a world long ago, it follows the lives of a
Prince and a young woman as they mature. Her father, seeking revenge, has been rejected by his village for refusing to save another man in peril. As a result, he and his daughter, Ariana, are outcasts. The Prince, seeking to find his way in the world, comes upon Ariana and learns a gypsy fortune teller has told her she will be claimed by a Prince who comes in a ship with Crimson sails.

QUEEN (50ish) domineering
MAGDA (60ish) wise, cagey old Gypsy woman
DARTA (20-35) barmaid
ARIANA (20ish) young, innocent looking, and naive
11 Males:
PRINCE (boy) early teens
RABYA (60ish) merchant, speaks with Yiddish accent
MAGISTRATE (50-70)
COMMANDER. (45-55) military type bearing
PIRATE (35-45) animated, emotional, not logical
CAPTAIN (50-60) doughty, round, lazy
PRINCE (mature) 30ish, handsome, charismatic
DREHYNYEV (60s) old merchant with an eye for the women
NICOLAS (30-50) townsman
ROSTOV (45-60) a weathered man, old before his time
KING (55ish) moderate but henpecked
This is a play with music. Not all of the songs are sung but rather "spoken"
Arrive a few miutes early to fill out an audition form or fill out the Enterable Audition Form, print it, and bring to the audition.
