The stage play adaptation of The 39 Steps is a fast-paced, madcap comedic thriller where a cast of just four actors play more than 150 roles to bring an epic spy chase to life. Four actors execute lightning-fast costume changes and shifting accents within seconds to play cops, spies, innkeepers, and farmers. Instead of typical staging, the show uses theatrical tricks to stage dramatic car chases, train leaps, and airplane crashes. Adapted by Patrick Barlow , the play mixes genuine suspense with goofy, rapid-fire slapstick and loving nods to other Hitchcock masterpieces like North by Northwest and Vertigo.
